Mainframe Engineer

We are a recruitment agency based in the Netherlands and we are preferred suppliers to big organizations based in the Netherlands.

For one of our giant client based in Brussels we are looking for a Mainframe Engineer.

36- 40 hours

2 - 3 year project

Hybrid (2-3 days per week onsite)

The project and the responsibilities:

• Mainframe Developer will support and enhance critical enterprise systems running on legacy and modernized mainframe environments. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with classic mainframe technologies and is comfortable working in complex, mission-critical environments.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL and PL/I

  • Support batch job scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting using CA7 / CA11

  • Work within z/OS environments to ensure high availability and performance

  • Maintain and support systems running on mainframe platforms such as Tandem, MVS, and/or AS/400

  • Perform analysis, debugging, and resolution of production issues

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, system programmers, and operations teams

  • Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives

  • Ensure proper documentation, coding standards, and compliance with internal procedures

Skillset:

• Strong experience with COBOL and/or PL/I development

• Hands-on experience with CA7 and CA11 job scheduling and workload automation

• Solid knowledge of z/OS operating systems

• Experience working with legacy mainframe environments such as Tandem, MVS, or AS/400

Interview process:

• One technical interview (60 min Teams chat) and one softs skills (20 mins)
