Legal Counsel

Assignment description

You will join an internationally operating organization where the legal function plays a direct role in the business. You will work within a compact legal team consisting of five lawyers and one paralegal. The primary focus is on the European market, with a strong emphasis on German-speaking countries.

You will operate in a complex, cross-border environment dealing with a wide variety of legal matters including commercial contracts, corporate governance, and supplier/customer agreements. In this role, you act as a sparring partner for management and internal stakeholders, while taking ownership in negotiations and legal processes.

The position requires a senior, independent legal professional who can operate both strategically and hands-on within an international setting.

What will you do

• Draft, review and negotiate international contracts

• Advise internal stakeholders and external parties on contractual terms

• Handle claims and support dispute resolution and legal proceedings

• Develop and implement standard terms and contract templates

• Lead and support cross-border legal projects across Europe

• Advise management on legal risks and mitigation strategies

• Monitor and interpret new laws and regulations and ensure compliance

• Act as legal project manager in complex negotiations

Hard requirements

• Master’s degree in Law (LL.M. or equivalent)

• 6 years+ of professional legal experience

• Recent in-house legal experience (mandatory)

• Experience in commercial, corporate and employment law

• Proven experience with international / cross-border contracts

• Fluent in German (mandatory) and English (written and spoken)

• Available for 40 hours per week

• Willing to work in the Düsseldorf/Ratingen area or Amersfoort (including travel)

• Rate: €70 – €80 per hour
