The Hardware Engineering team, comprised of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, is responsible for applying electrical and mechanical engineering principles to participate and or support in the design, documentation, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical components, subsystems, and systems.
The candidate must utilize a broad Hardware Engineering background, with depth in Electrical and or Mechanical Engineering, to lead engineering team members through design, development, integration, test and production and obtaining approval of engineering products through engineering reviews and engineering milestone events (e.g., System Requirements Review, Systems Design Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Test Readiness Review, etc.).
The candidate will support the creation of hardware engineering Basis of Estimates, hardware engineering technical project management, hardware engineering product roadmaps, support resource planning, process improvement initiatives, and overall hardware engineering product/project execution.
This is a highly technical role that requires the utilization of a solid engineering, operations, and program management background to understand and work with cross-functional team members to create/drive efforts and communicate risks. The candidate will also help set proper priorities and put risk mitigation plans in place.
The candidate will also support all efforts needed to produce, update, and control hardware engineering configuration items for the company’s flight training devices. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for supporting all test, modification, fabrication, assembly processes to ensure soundness of designs, as needed.
Experience leading hardware engineering efforts to meet cost, schedule, and technical requirements
Understanding of and experience using Earned Value Management on complex programs
Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills, including interactions with senior leadership
Experience with designing, integrating, and testing of electrical and mechanical systems
Experience with manufacturing, software, and systems engineering
Ability to work well in a team environment
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with greater than 10 years of relevant professional experience
Project Management Certification
Experience managing design and delivery of products on commercial programs
5+ years of experience in a high-tech environment
Ability to lead change management
Experience interfacing directly with customers
Experience Managing People
