Position Summary

Reporting to the VP, International Finance, the Finance Director is responsible for participation in the strategic planning for the Europe, Middle East, and Latin America regions and for its financial planning and reporting. The Finance Director will manage company’s financial accounting, invoicing, collections (A/R), monitoring and reporting systems for the region. The successful candidate will work closely with the business managers and provide support through information analyses (e.g. current processes, actual performance vs. budget and prior year, budget, etc.), preparation of operational data/analyses who rely on/benefit from the information to make informed business decisions. Primary responsibilities will include assisting in the annual budget process, periodic forecasting, and periodic analysis of operations performance.

A. Key Challenges/ Major Business Issues

Key challenges will be the maintaining local financial reporting integrity and financial controls, while creating value added financial planning and business analysis processes to facilitate a highly efficient and effective financial transaction processing and analysis environment. Major business issues will be communicating effectively and continuously with operations and business leaders so that the planning, reporting and analysis of results, projections and budgets are in alignment with company initiatives.

Duties, Responsibilities and Expected Contributions

  • Develop, implement and document policies, procedures, and best practices over general ledger closing, financial reporting, and tax reporting

  • Provide accounting/finance support in establishing, maintaining, and closing the entitiy(ies)

  • Manage the close process

  • Prepare and review monthly reports to ensure compliance with the Company’s reporting requirements

  • Reconcile intercompany balances monthly

  • Coordinate all international efforts with respect to various reporting requirements (i.e., internal management reporting, external reporting, future projections) needed in meeting the Company’s overall financial strategies

  • Create financial models to provide financial analysis and decision support

  • Ensure international entity compliance with established policies and procedures

  • Ensure all international contracts, leases, tax returns, banking, and other legal and financial records are current

  • Manage payroll and provide financial oversight for retirement and benefit plans as needed

  • Liaise with auditors to ensure all statutory audits are completed on a timely basis and inform Corporate Tax Director of issues and resolutions

  • Lead the statutory audit process and provide assurance to designated signors for approval/sign-off; communicate any finding on material weakness on internal controls or material adjustments on financial statements to Corporate Internal Audit and Corporate External Reporting

  • Submit quarterly reporting packages to the corporate office in U.S. GAAP

  • In conjunction with the Tax team, assist with transfer pricing policies and documentations requirements to ensure continued effectiveness for tax savings

  • Assist in company’s accounting system upgrade and financial reporting system implementation

  • Collaborate closely with other Finance functions to achieve business priorities. This may include cash flow analysis, supply chain analysis, local corporate organizational support, financial systems hierarchy support, and other key finance activities

  • Support senior leader and Board presentations

  • Partner with and provide finance leadership to the business leaders, including leading monthly customer finance reviews

  • Ensure deadline for reporting and filing is maintained

  • Effectively partner within to organization to create consistent understanding of accounting for both local and U.S. GAAP reporting

  • Ensuring appropriate amount of support (time & resource allocation) for top initiatives

Strategic Leadership

  • Execute strategic initiatives

  • Foster thought leadership among regional controllers

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the landscape of the business and best practices within Finance

  • Lead best practice sharing and development across the international regional controllers group

Managing Relationships

  • Build relationships with the international controllers and their teams

  • Demonstrate the ability to navigate the landscaper within the international organization as well as with the corporate functions

Position Requirements

A. Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree, Accounting or Business required

  • Certified Accountant or CPA, and/or MBA or related graduate degree preferred

  • Minimum 10 years; preferred: 15+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience

  • Local and U.S. GAAP experience

  • Strong experience in private and public accounting sectors preferred

B. Functional Knowledge and Business Expertise Required

  • Credibility, ethical, and clean financial history

  • Strong GAAP and financial reporting technical skills

  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and producing quality work

  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with superior attention to detail

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner

  • Exceptional work ethic

  • Experience working with third party providers, e.g. banks, audit firms, and tax and accounting firms

  • Strong excel modeling skills

  • Experience with financial reporting packages and tools (e.g., Hyperion, JD Edwards), PowerPoint

  • International tax knowledge or the ability to understand basic tax concepts
