General Position Definition

Corporate Communications creates business value by building a positive and distinct brand and reputation through world-class sensing, engagement and communication. Corporate Communications maintain and manage the global web presence. It was recently rated #1 corporate web site in the World by the industry recognised Bowen Craggs index. It is a state of the art web suite that currently attracts 44m visitors annually serving 170m page impressions.
It comprises the companies prime digital presence including its global web sites and, as such, it is the online shop window to customers and a key business critical capability. There is continuous and enduring demand for incremental exploitation and development of the site.

Role Overview

The Project Manager role has responsibility for the management of all resources and deliverables in support of on-going development and enhancement of the global web presence. The role covers all aspects of the end to end iterative release cycle from planning and demand management, requirements and solution specification, technical development and testing and release management.

The project manager is the key IT face-off point for CX stakeholders for all incremental delivery of the functionality and, on a daily basis, there is a need for detailed, granular working with business sponsor stakeholders in CX on delivery progress, issue review and resolution, review and agreement of the details of delivery scope, dependency management and integration of parallel delivery activities and general solution design discussions.

This senior leadership role primarily involves the hands-on project management of the website development but also, close collaboration with the operational team and coordination with other key projects across the company using the Adobe AEM landscape.


  • The Project Manager has overall responsibility for management and coordination of all of the separate workstreams within the website Roadmap project and is accountable for the overall quality of delivery to address business needs.

  • The Project manager is responsible for all aspects of delivery team management including defining resourcing requirements, evaluation, selection and recruitment of contract resources, performance assessment, line management and career development for resources within team.

  • The Project manager works closely with the Release Planer to ensure that the release plans are complete, realistic and accurate and then liaises with the key stakeholders to undertake detailed planning and ensure that expectations are being effectively managed.

  • The project manager works closely with the technical lead to ensure that packages of work are carefully assessed and accurate estimates are prepared for the effort involved in delivery.

  • The project manager develops work plans, assigns tasks to the developers and testers, monitors progress against the plans and takes appropriate action to ensure the successful delivery.


The successful candidate will have

  • extensive practical experience and a demonstrable track record of applying strong project management disciplines and use of an AGILE approach to relevant delivery activities, preferably aligned with the PDF delivery framework.

  • extensive experience of managing delivery releases of large scale web development projects including planning, sizing, cost control, demand and requirements prioritisation, delivery team recruitment and management, technical solution development, testing, release management and risk management.

  • practical experience of managing Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) solution delivery. The level of knowledge of AEM must be sufficient for the project manager to effectively assess the complexities of the effort involved in developing release updates and maintaining a regular cycle of releases to the production environment.

  • practical experience of coordinating release management across associated technical environments within the context of continuous and iterative web site development.

  • experience of web development team management including teams comprising technical architects, technical developers, testers and test managers, change and release managers etc. Preferably this will include the management of virtual teams, offshore resources and a multi-supplier landscape.

  • experience of evaluation and selection of contract resource and line management of delivery teams

  • well developed communication skills including the ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation and to establish and maintain good working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
