In our ‘Vision 2020’, we described the ‘Information Connected Enterprise’. One of the projects contributing to this is the Data Platform (DP) project, which is a prerequisite for realizing a unified information landscape. Information is the factor that interconnects people and operational processes and connects the company with its business environment. DP acts as an enterprise data hub or data platform, which will be created step-by-step as a means to centralize, standardize and combine data to improve data exchange and data analytics across multiple business domains.

Special focus: project Data Platform (stream Enabling Technology)

The DP project is divided in several plateaus in which the first plateau has already been started.
DP-1 project is divided in three streams; Data Governance, Enterprise Data Model and Enabling Technology. The streams provide a Master Data Management baseline to handle and manage new business need(s) in the area of data analytics and data exchange. With each (new) case the Data Platform will grow in maturity level. For plateau-1 the project started with one case which will be built on existing (traditional) building blocks (ETL, relational DB, ESB). Modernization of these building blocks, especially in the area of ETL and meta data management, to fit future needs is also part of DP.

What is your role as solution architect?
The prime focus of the DP solution architect, applications is to design the Data Platform technological architecture, in such a way that:
It supports current requirements for data integration and analytics
It is able to evolve quickly, in order to enable future data integration and analytics (big data) ambitions (new cases in future plateau's)
All surrounding elements (source application, IT infrastructure) are aligned to the Data Platform in any plateau.
The architecture fits in the target domain architecture for (big) data analytics, which will be designed in parallel (meaning this requires strong communicative skills to constantly align efforts to a moving target).

Main tasks and responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the architecture & design of the stream Enabling Technology;

a. Designs and delivers DP architecture requirements specification, according to PSA DP v2.0

b.Develops, maintains and communicates the DP Solution Architecture (v2.0): requirements and building blocks next plateaus, especially for plateau-2
c.Designs architecture requirements for the selection of new integration and MDM technology and designs the Proof-of-Technology.

2)Supports stream Enterprise Data Model by setting requirements and constraints to implementing the EDM in the technology. Understands the top-down approach / process from Information Area (business glossary), Canonical Data Model to specifically targeted models (e.g. data exchange, BI models, analytical sandboxes).
3)Supports the project manager and use case team leaders;
a.To determine the impact (accept /reject) of new cases (RFC's) on the project from an architecture point-of-view.
b.Carries the vision of the Data Platform to advice the project manager in several ways (Business IT-alignment) and to explain or communicate the DP (big picture) to other stakeholders.

  1. Ensures quality of the architecture deliverables within the established norms, standards and guidelines of the domain architectures.

  2. Timely (as agreed upon with the client) delivery of DP deliverables.

What do we expect from you (in terms of: qualifications, experience)?
Experience in Data Integration and Master Data Management
Experience with business intelligence, information architecture and meta data management are required to accomplish this project.
Familiar with (Big) Data analytics, Data virtualization and SOA.
The candidate at least has a diploma related to EQF level 6 (Bachelor / HBO). The field of expertise is relevant and should be at least Energy, preferably in the area of System Operations and/or Asset management.
At least ten years + of experience working in IT.
At least five years of relevant work experience, having worked as an application architect, software architect, information architect, or comparable roles.
Strong and inspiring communicator, able to build and maintain relationships on several levels.
Holds a current certificate in alignment with the requirements of the Certified Architect Program (Open CA) of The Open Group (e.g. TOGAF, Dragon 1, Archimate).
Is familiar with and can proof experience with data modelling (UML Class diagrams, EA /Sparx and PowerDesigner).
Can proof experience with managing customer requirements, needs and demands.
Excellent language skills, both in English and Dutch.

Work situations, environments and any specific requirements
The job could require business travel to Germany.
To get the job done flexibility in working hours is required.
