Job description

We need you to lead the way for an evidence-based approach to product management and decision making, working closely with ScienceDirect product and marketing managers, our A/B testing team, development teams and senior management to enhance the online experience of millions of researchers. You must possess a unique blend of analytics and business savvy - be able to immerse yourself in the data, leveraging advanced analytics to derive key actionable insights while guided by a big picture vision of the key business/product needs and priorities. Key responsibilities include analysing user engagement with our online products and providing not only key data metrics but actionable insights and recommendations to drive key product and strategic decisions. You will assess impact of product initiatives against KPIs and combine quantitative and qualitative insights on online user behavior to build advanced predictive KPI models.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing the analytics reporting of KPIs and insights for the ScienceDirect Product Management team. Engaging with the senior management stakeholders to inform strategic planning and reporting

  • Defining business objectives/KPIs and creating tailored KPI reports for product and management teams. Leveraging predictive modelling techniques to understand key drivers of business KPIs

  • Driving the design, development, and deployment of new BI/KPI reports, frameworks, and tools (including visual insights, detailed reports, and dashboards)

  • Providing guidance to appropriate stakeholders when defining and communicating the web analytics requirements for new features/products

  • Effectively sharing insights and research results via presentations, e-mails, reports and educating data consumers on the interpretation of results

  • Managing functional relations with other teams (e.g. A/B testing, marketing)

  • Identifying information/analysis needs of stakeholders and designing effective strategies for meeting these needs

  • Collaborating with other departments to collect relevant business data (e.g. qualitative/survey data) to improve predictive user models

Knock out

  • Ability to deliver results with minimum supervision

  • A self-starter, pro-active, thinks strategically

  • Stakeholder engagement experience, driving change within a large digital business.

  • Experience with e-commerce and social media analytics preferred

  • Strong data analytics skills, preferably including the use of one or more web analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Omniture Site Catalyst, Webtrends Insight)

  • Strong influencing skills and ability to communicate confidently at all levels across the business

  • Previous experience of optimisation, and good understanding of A/B and Multivariate Testing principles

  • Familiarity with data integrations, analytics tagging and the key topics of the analytics industry

  • Familiarity with SQL and the ability to analyze and combine large data sets using tools such as R, Python, MS Access, SQL Server or SPSS

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau or similar)

  • Intermediate Excel (formulas, graphing, pivot tables, linking) and advanced PowerPoint

  • University degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer or Data Science, Economics

  • 3 to 4 years working with enterprise analytics in a B2C environment

  • Strong communications, collaboration and project management skills

  • Fluent English and DUTCH (speaking and writing)
