The Test Automation Engineer maintains and extends the automated test framework with new functionality and test cases for both functional as well as non-functional aspects, including analysis of test results and submission of found problems. The test automation engineer prepares and schedules test runs in such manner that they can be executed with high frequency and reports are easy to analyze. The Test Automation Engineer works in an agile environment where daily feedback on quality is a must.
The tasks of the Test Automation Engineer in the areas of responsibility indicated above are summarized as follows:
Writes test specifications based on system requirements.
Develop and execute test cases to diagnose issues and bugs, creating test data when required.
Provide bug reports to the development engineers and work directly with development engineers to troubleshoot potential problem areas.
Implement test harnesses (test automation frameworks) and integrate this to build systems.
Automation of recurring test cases in a test scripting tool.
Generate easily readable reports
Performs continuous test execution during the development and V&V phase of the project.
Performs feasibility studies with respect to testing as well for functional as non-functional items.
Provides Test Manager with proper test approach information with respect to where it is beneficial to automate and where not.
Determines technical approach of tests within the project (test design).
Executes test design activities within the project in order to select and apply test methods and techniques to design test specifications and related test scripts.
Specifies requirements for system test tools, to support automated testing but also test engineering in general.
Reviews Requirements and Design Specifications with respect to testability of the system.
You have a bachelor or master degree (BSc or MSc) in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or software engineering.
You have minimal 3 years of experience in using a continuous integration environment, e.g. Jenkins, for automated testing.
You have knowledge of product development processes such as V-model, Agile, SCRUM
You have experience with functional and non-functional tests such as performance, scalability and load tests.
ISEB or ISTQB advanced certification
Detailed understanding of Test Design and Test Techniques & Methods.
Knowledge and experience in the field of testing complex systems in a medical device environment is a plus.
Knowledge of HP ALM is a plus
Experience in embedded software testing is a plus
Development and test in a healthcare regulated environment is a plus
Good written and verbal communication in the English language
