Within Technical Landscape Services (TLS), Subsurface & Technical Infrastructure (S&TI) supports the infrastructure for Technical Professionals in Exploration and Production operating from various locations around the globe. It includes GIS (Geographic Information Systems) specific back-end services for the global Geomatics community, which are provided by a virtual team located in the Netherlands, USA and Malaysia. We’re looking for candidates to strengthen the team covering operational support, service improvements and technical project lead related activities.
Provide 3rd line operational support, with focus on day to day incident management related to ArcGIS Server on Windows Server, web map viewers, ArcSDE, SQL Server and Oracle on Linux
Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical application issues: application access, recovery and tuning
End-to-end monitoring and problem management across all technical areas
Act as interface between our customers and various infrastructure support groups providing operating system and storage/network support
Work very closely with the customer to provide guidance in the effective use of GIS systems, products and services (mainly ESRI technologies)
Plan and participate in global GIS backend ever greening activities like new releases, security patches and application upgrades
Automation of workflows maintaining applications (i.e. upgrade, migration, stabilization, workarounds)
Document, maintain and improve service performance metrics
Translating customer requirements in infrastructure design and managing component infrastructure provider’s delivery on new requirements
On boarding (technical support) of new GIS functionality into the service, ensure appropriate transition from project to support
Deployment of GIS backend services to new locations around the globe liaising with hardware, storage & operating system component infrastructure providers and customers
Contribute to successful project delivery within agreed time and budget
Knowledge skills and abilities
Master’s degree in computer science, geography, GIS, or other closely related field
Minimum of three years of work experience in similar role
Excellent GIS backend application support skills covering ArcGIS Server, Internet Information Services (IIS), ArcSDE, Oracle on Linux and SQL Server
Very good IT Infrastructure skills covering Windows Server (and Linux) administration
Experience with middleware administration and configuration (Web applications on IIS, Tomcat, Active Directory, Kerberos KDC, DNS)
Scripting exposure to Python scripting (optional PowerShell)
Customer focused and pro-active attitude; enjoy customer facing, taking end-to-end responsibility
Be able to work with various specialized multinational support teams to bring complex requests or problems to timely resolution
Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written
In-depth analytical and troubleshooting skills on a variety of platforms
Be flexible, and willing to work outside of normal office hours in order to ensure that service and high customer satisfaction is maintained
ArcGIS Desktop and spatial data type knowledge
Experience with FME Server
Experience participating in a virtual team of people delivering global services/projects.
Experience in multinational/multicultural enterprise
Exposure to the oil and gas industry. In particular exploration and production, preferably in the Subsurface/Geomatics arena
