The Business Intelligence Data Governance Process Lead is a member of the Business Intelligence (BI) Team within the office of DAA. The BI Data Governance Process Lead reports to the BI managers, works in collaboration with various global departments within and is a member of the BI project team.
The Data Governance Process Lead is a key participant in a BI project team who are responsible for developing a Self Service BI environment with support mechanisms to provide users the tools, skills and knowledge required to access and analyze data themselves. As part of the project team, the person in this role will help develop and implement new business intelligence solutions, procedures and processes, and where necessary amend existing procedures and processes, to ensure Self Service BI can be implemented.
The Data Governance Process Lead is expected to provide advice on various Data Governance aspects, including Meta and master data management, data definitions, lineage, ownership, data quality, architecture, security and access, privacy, compliance, and related metrics. The person fulfilling this role is also expected to provide assistance implementing these aspects within the Self Service BI programme. Additionally, the Data Governance Process Lead is expected to have solid knowledge of BI and Data Warehousing in general, and how this can add value in an organization. Specific knowledge of implementing Data Governance within a SS BI project would be beneficial.
This position has the responsibility to identify the data owners and develop policies and processes regarding data governance and access. The assignment will also include business training to promote and create awareness of Data Governance related Self Service BI capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop policies and processes around data governance and access

  • Provide advice and support implementation of the following aspects within the SS BI programme

o Meta and master data management,
o Data definitions,
o Lineage,
o Ownership,
o Data quality,
o Relevant data and information architecture,
o Security and access,
o Privacy and compliance

  • Where necessary facilitate user and functional requirement discussions with the business.

  • Provide training and assistance to business customers.

  • Prepare accurate Data Governance related time estimates for the project and manage relevant tasks and activities to meet deadlines.

  • Interact in a cooperative and professional manner, with all levels of employees, vendors and/or clients, in team environment.

  • Recommend and implement new procedures, best practices, programs and/or tools to improve Data Governance.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Four-year technical degree required. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, systems engineering or related field preferred.

  • Four or more years of experience with BI practices and techniques (as a BI Data Governance/Process Lead).

  • Specific knowledge of data Governance, including Meta and master data management, definitions, data lineage, data ownership, security and access, data quality, architecture, privacy, compliance

  • Experience in Pharmaceutical (R&D) environments preferred

  • Experience in Master data management, meta data management, data quality, data lineage or data ownership is preferred

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements concerning GxP applications and GAMP5 preferred

  • Fluent in relational database concepts and flat file processing concepts

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills

  • Must be knowledgeable in software development lifecycles/methodologies i.e. agile

  • Familiarity working with large data sets.

  • Familiarity working in international and enterprise level companies.

  • Ability to grasp the link between data elements and business concepts and their relationships to one another.

  • Ability to validate business user requirements for accuracy and completeness of proposed solution.

  • Excellent analytical skills, research and critical thinking skills, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments effectively.

  • Experience working on project teams utilizing Agile principles, practices, and methodologies preferred.

  • Advanced verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to be both directive and collaborative.

  • Ability to work autonomously.

  • Experience with enterprise-level business intelligence applications and reporting tools.

  • Understanding of (pharmaceutical) business concepts, procedures, and practices.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Dutch

  • Has strong presentation and collaboration skills and can communicate all aspects of the job requirements, including the creation of formal documentation

  • Strong problem solving, time management and organizational skills

  • Be stress-resistant

  • Flexibility to work alternate shifts on an as needed basis
