Are you passionate about sustainable automotive and would you like to accelerate meaningful innovations for the leading car manufacturers? Do you have what it takes to convert innovation into promising business opportunities? As Automotive Business Developer – Powertrains, you are responsible for developing commercial opportunitties with an emphasis on innovative contract research and consultancy. Consequently you will convert them into competitive offers and finally into a concrete deals. These consultancy projects will provide tailor-made solutions for our customers challenges (both complex and multidisciplinary in nature) relating to improving the efficiency (fuel consumption and CO2 emissions) of integrated powertrains, with a focus on advanced combustion engines, energy / hybrid technologies and aftertreatment systems. You are our first point of contact for all leading automotive TIERs and OEMs in this area throughout the world. The most important regions in this regard are: Europe, Japan, the USA and, increasingly, China, Korea and India. You are responsible for achieving your personal targets (in terms of order intake) by initiating, developing and maintaining lasting relationships and contacts with clients (both existing ones and new ones). Moreover you strive towards maximum sales effectiveness by making use of the expertise knowledge available within the relevant research groups. You report to the Automotive Market Manager. Within the Mobility theme at TNO, we are working to boost the prosperity and welfare of society by making mobility more reliable, more clean and more safe. To realize our ambitions, we develop innovative solutions for our customers, ranging from application and performance validation in prototype vehicles, developing new ways of linking to intelligent infrastructure, and predicting human behavior in traffic.

You have a self propelling personality, and you are an excellent communicator with a commercial mindset and a can do mentality. Problem solving methods as modeling, simulation and control are for you as Automotive Business Developer - Powertrains an asset.
A university degree in electronics/fysics/Informatics supplemented by business experience; - A minimum of three years commercial work experience in the exciting field of R&D/innovation; - The ability to handle the full Business Development trajectory, from gathering initial market insight to actual deal closing with new partners; - A strong interest in automotive technology, particularly in the field of combustion engines, electric and hybrid vehicles and aftetreatments systems; - You enjoy the challenge of travelling and spending about 20% of your time working abroad.
