A new DC Strategy is being developed in order to meet future demands, increase capacity, improve efficiency, drive standardization and lower Total Cost of Ownership.

The DC initiative consists of 2 major tracks : DC Consolidation of the existing DC’s (8) within NL and the build of 2 new data centres in Amsterdam. Consolidation includes typical DC activities such as virtualisation including virtual move of services, limited physical Lift& Shifts, decommissioning & DC Cleanup, data cleansing & HW shredding.

The sr Project Manager DC Consolidation is responsible for demand and delivery management across the end to end delivery of large and complex projects in their respective domain, from approval through design, development, integration, test, deployment and into operations in countries.
The sr Project Manager focusses on the delivery of multiple releases in the domain allowing the various teams involved to focus on their deliveries and balance with their ongoing activities

Provide leadership in the their domain through formal governance roles, e.g. on steering committees, and by building and maintaining trusted relationships with product and technology leaders in their domain and its country entities
Support the VP IT Operations management team as needed
Direct, manage and motivate a team of highly educated, skilled & knowledgeable Project, Managers and the members of the delivery teams like technical experts, product owners etc.

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that new and existing services in the IT Infrastructure domain are developed, launched, and maintained in accordance with the IT Infrastructure & Operations standards. Typical activities in scope are:

  • Gathering Non-functional Requirements

  • Assessment & Site Surveys of the IT Landscape

  • Application Modelling

  • Migration Planning

  • Business Alignment

  • Migrations based (P2V, V2V, Lift & Shift, Greefield)

  • Decommissioning

  • Data Cleansing & shredding

  • DC Cleanup & site closure

  • Asset Mgmt

  • Supporting procurement with contract management

  • Managing day-2-day operations with internal suppliers and 3rd parties

The sr Project Manager takes the business requirements and constraints, collaborates with the Infrastructure engineers, Service Managers, Infrastructure Technical Specialists and concentrates on the design of Infrastructures including Servers, Storage, Middleware, and the physical facilities that support the applications and business processes required by the client.

The selected candidate needs to have a strong background in managing complex IT infrastructure setup.

Knock Out Criteria

  • Proven track record in Data Centre consolidation activities last 5 years, including treatments such as VMotion, Oracle OVM, Oracle LDOM, P2V, Lift & Shift.

Other Criteria

  • It is likely that successful candidates for this role will have 10+ years of experience in delivery of technical services in the IT Infrastructure in the telecommunications, cable, and/or media industries

  • Proven track record in Data Centre IT Infrastructure Services, Platform Services as well as Application Infrastructure Services.

  • Delivery Management skills. Comprehensive and strong skills in project management, preferably with certification from e.g. APM, PMI, IPMA

  • A deep understanding and first-hand experience of traditional waterfall and agile project management methodologies used in the industry e.g. PRINCE2, Scrum

  • Profound expertise in project management tool Clarity (CA)

  • Domain skills. This role requires several years’ experience of working on products and programs in the specific domain. Knowledge of the operating models, technical architectures, and solution components used in the major markets of the Telco/media/cable industry globally is required

  • Being able to develop a clear and detailed plan. In order to ensure that a program is feasible and doesn’t veer off course, the project manager will need to have the skills to develop a step by step plan with well-defined tasks and to make sure the delivery team stays on a timeline

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are needed, as well as experience in communicating, persuading, and influencing at senior stakeholder level

  • Self-motivated and proactive in the working environment

  • Demonstrates the gravitas and courage needed to build relationships and convey authority in order to resolve conflicts and maintain direction

  • Can adapt communication & influencing style to different situations, audiences and cultures.

  • Requires little supervision and resolves problems that arise consistent.

  • Excellent problem solving skills and be able to think quickly and adept about how to address problems as they come up and to learn from the issues so that the same problem do not arise again.

  • Advanced interpersonal skills. Being able to relate well to others, to dictate responsibilities, to offer constructive feedback and to support and encourage others. Find ways to motivate the team and earn their respect in order for them to work effectively and focused on delivery outcomes. Making sure they meet their deadlines with quality.

  • Fosters teamwork, works cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and can make decisions that enhance organisational effectiveness

  • Able to take decisions, assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks and can make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interest of the organisation.

  • Can multitask, the ability to switch quickly between tasks and to think about the project on many different levels at once.

  • Can to set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals and track details, data information and activities.

  • Strong enough commercial skills and experience to be able to develop and challenge costs and benefits in business cases

  • Strong resource management, financial management, and budget management skills

  • Vendor selection and management. Shows experience and skills in selection of vendors, developing risk based commercial frameworks, managing and monitoring vendors, and vendor relationship management

  • Knowledge of and experience in operating governance processes

  • Fluent English speaker, ideally with other European languages.

  • At ease and effective in operating in an international working environment
