DevOps Engineer

Amid this time of hardship and self-isolation many of my clients have been discussing remote work for all essential positions to keep business running as best as possible.

So I hope you might be interested in applying for a DevOps Engineer position, offering remote work, 36-40 hours per week with an ideal start in early April or sooner. A 3 months’ rolling contract which will be extending until the end of the year. Interviews will of course be done via video calls.

The Project: is about redesigning the client’s store operations by identifying a new POS vendor, creating a high-level target architecture and deliver an implementation roadmap (incl. plan, estimations, governance, etc.) to go-live within one physical store in nov-2020. If success, then the ambition is to roll-out to remaining 7000+ stores in 40+ countries. As part of this exercise, we would like to conduct a Proof of Architecture (PoA) for the selected POS system that needs to be embedded in the client’s landscape.

The Selected DevOps will be responsible for

(a) Building the CI/CD toolchain,
(b) Supporting dev and operations.

Required Skills:

• Soft skills like being a team player, communication in/with teams, contributing in technical design sessions, presenting & education to other members

• Agile Practices - DevOps, Scrum, Kanban (pre: Agile at scale)

• CI/CD concepts

• Test Automation enablement

• Code Quality

• Understanding how to operate & support a multi-team software engineering environment

• Understanding of branching strategies

• Release strategies (blue/green, A/B, canary)

Experience in the following technology / vendor domains:

• Kubernetes, Docker (helm/kustomize)

• Azure PaaS (in particular AKS, databases & storage, message brokers)

• IT security & networking

• Firewall & application gateway

• Encryption

• OAuth 2.0 Single Sign on

• Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform

• Infrastructure testing with Chef Inspec

• Google Apigee and Azure API Management

• Elasticsearch, Logstash & Kibana application logging stack

• Prometheus & Grafana application monitoring stack
