Opdrachtomschrijving
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for the design, configuration and support of highly scalable and automated business services deployed to the company’s hybrid cloud. Working across engineering teams, he will be responsible for ensuring that operations are scalable and continuous, employing innovative methods for rapid provisioning and deployment of virtual environments ensuring reliable monitoring, management and reporting solutions.
Key responsibilities
Engineer and develop infrastructure automation services supporting modern application development standards enabling infrastructure as code.
Design and engineer infrastructure technologies in support of best practice, business continuity, performance/reliability, and security requirements.
Transition solutions from architecture through operations including implementation, testing, go live, operating procedures, monitoring and performance/capacity
management.Develop, maintain and support system standards through configuration management and automation scripting and tools.
Ensure appropriate system monitoring, alerting and reporting is implemented and supported globally including uptime, performance, capacity, and utilization/show back.
Identify and lead new initiatives and provide guidance and support on advancing infrastructure technologies.
Provide high-quality communication and documentation relating to project and work tasks as well as any incidents and outages.
Responsible for establishing project plans, budgets, schedules and documentation of work.
Performs complex issue analysis and may perform lead role on smaller or less complex projects.
Provides significant direction in areas such as research studies, tradeoff analysis, operation studies, design reviews and technical briefings.
Mentor junior and medior staff (*Sr. functions)
Required qualification and skills
5+ years of relevant experience in a comparable professional role in a relevant field or equivalent years of experience.
5+ years systems administration/engineering of virtualized infrastructures and/or cloud services.
Academic level of thinking.
Must have scripting and programming skills (Python, PowerShell, etc.).
Must have knowledge and experience with Azure.
Must have experience with cloud configuration automation in Azure. Must have understanding and proven experience with virtualization technologies (for example Hyper-V, Xen, KVM or VMware).
Must have familiarity with containers and serverless computing technology (Docker, Kubernetes or AWS Lambda, etc.).
Detailed understanding of virtual networking (VMware NSX, VPCs, etc.) and protocols (TCP/IP, IPv6, SSL/TLS, HTTP, DNS).
Familiarity with or at least 1 cloud backup solution (Veeam, Azure backup, Rubrik or Amazon S3 backup).
Familiarity with Office 365.
Knowledge of networking (multicast/IGMP, IP routing, firewalls, load-balancers, etc.).
Experience working in large-scale environments.
Strong troubleshooting skills.
Customer management skills and strong communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.

Demonstrated expertise in deployment, tuning, capacity, and performance monitoring of infrastructure cloud platforms and services; private and hybrid including use of
Integrated Containers.Technical accreditation or successful completion of vendor certified trainings (Microsoft, EMC, VMware, Citrix, AWS, Nutanix, GCP or others).
Strong written/verbal communication skills required to interface with developers and customers.
ITIL certification to the foundation level or higher preferred.
Experience with Scrum or Agile way of working.
