Infrastructure Migration Engineer

We are looking for a freelance Infrastructure Migration Engineer for our client in the area of Utrecht.

Description

Our client is running the project to migrate assets from one datacenter to the newer DC, the end state as designed. The migration entails migrating all services including related compute, storage, internal network, WAN connections, firewall, load balancer and consolidating to standard building blocks (with various vendors). The migration (including decommissioning of the old datacenter) needs to be completed by the end of 2020.

Competence

• You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree;

• You have 3-5 years of relevant work experience within an enterprise environment;

• You have advanced knowledge of VMWare, certification preferred;

• Experience with PlateSpin is a must

• Experience working in Datacenter Migration projects, migrating VMs & BMs to the new location;

• Strong verbal and written communication skills (Dutch and/or English);

• Good documenting capabilities.

Deliverables and responsibilities

• Preparations for migration: data collection, health checks, creating migration steps;

• Migrating VM’s using vMotion to the new location;

• Migrating Bare Metals using PlateSpin to the new location;

• Creating and assisting in making Runbooks.

Interfaces

Reports to the project manager, works in close harmony with team members and has interfaces with the standing customer IT department.
