Product Owner Analytics

For this challenge within an expanding data domain at one of our banking clients, we are looking for an ambitious Product Owner who will define and implement the strategy to deliver a trustworthy data environment. And who will, together with the Engineering lead and the Scrum Master, compose and lead a data enabling team.

The assignment

As the Product Owner you are responsible for the Domain Data Store. You work for the private bank in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium. Your key tasks are stakeholder management, creating a strategy for this domain, defining and prioritising the work for the team, representing the team in bankwide programs. Your stakeholders in the private bank are Data & Analytics, E-commerce and Marketing. You will work together closely with Data Management & Architecture where the data platform and data sources will be provided. You are the starting point for the creation of data attributes needed to deliver value.
You will lead an agile DevOps team, that is being composed at the moment. In the team will be 3-5 business data modelers and 4-7 data engineers (IT) who together are responsible for delivering data attributes and solutions. This starts with needs analysis and goes all the way to day to day delivery of high quality data. The business data modelers translate business needs into data requirements, organize the needed sources and provide input for data engineers. The responsibility of the data engineers is on the (physical) delivery of the data (e.g. running data pipelines).

Relevant competences

As the Product Owner you are tasked with building the new data environment for all data consumers in the private bank. You will define an agile strategy to transform the current legacy environments, aiming to combine assurance of business continuity with opportunity to deliver new business value. You like to work on the data fundament and provide trust in our data. Considering the multi-disciplinary working environment and broad stakeholder field, being a true team-player is essential. You are structured and take pride in delivering results. You are not afraid of pioneering and experimenting to deliver business value.

Required qualifications

• You have a bachelor degree or higher

• You have experience as a Product Owner in maturing and leading teams working DevOps within large enterprises

• You are able to successfully manage a large and diverse set of stakeholders, both business and IT

• You are able to stand strong in tough discussions with key stakeholders, without losing sight of the relationship

• You have experience in projects involving large scale data, complex business infrastructure, and multi-disciplinary teams

• You understand data and the complexity of data engineering and are up-to-date with the latest developments in data

• You have strong business acumen, strong analytical skills and you are IT savvy

• You fluently speak and write Dutch and English

• You can inspire others and have a sense of humour

• Having previous experience working within the Financial Services industry is a plus

• Having experience with data platforms on the public cloud (e.g. AWS, Azure) is a plus
